Joanna
Hi!
My name’s Joanna and I’m from Gdansk, Poland.

Everyone knows that medicine is one of the most rewarding and satisfying career paths. However, there are still loads of myths about medical schools. Medicine is more than cramming humongous amounts of never-ending textbooks in the library 24/7. It’s about the people you’ll come across, challenges you’ll have to overcome and new experiences that will shape your future “you”.
Getting into medical school is not easy but with enough motivation and hard work, anyone can do it so nothing should hold you back! Being the first one in my family to come up with an idea of moving abroad and studying medicine, it was hard to find people who could help me with the application to medical schools in the UK. Therefore, I am aware how helpful and valuable peer guidance through the application process can be. Once I got into medicine, I decided to join a few non-profit Polish and international organizations established to help other aspiring students in pursuing education in the UK. Now I wish to promote higher education and widen access to medical schools more locally, i.e. in Scotland.
I believe that the key to a successful application are an early preparation and an adequate work experience that you could include in your personal statement. Gaining insight into the complex nature of the medical profession is the only way you can find out what this job entails and if it is the right career path for you. Therefore, I’ll be sharing with you some hints and tips on how to prepare for medical school if you are in S3/S4.
